I’m in land and you can just tell people are checking out mentally. I’ve thought about leaving with how poorly we are run (check the stock price) but with M and F at home, I think alot of people will stay and coast. Also, why do we have 2 VPs of land? Seems like such a waste of money:

Our leaders have led us to nothing but stock value declines since 2017, so I’ll take that as a compliment. They clearly don’t know what they are doing.
lol, clearly someone with no leadership skills who hasn’t been able to work their way up the ladder and is jealous of others. Prefers to complain instead of actually doing something about it.
lol clearly some yes man, HR grunt or useless director/vp posting below trying to justify their outrageous pay for the little they do help the company succeed.
For all the complainers should leave, if you are worried what the director & vp are doing then you are not doing your part and should leave as no one is forcing you to stay. Ultimately the fundamentals will correct the stock price. There is no perfect place to work but at OXY I always feel informed part of the OXY team that strive to do better every day.
I too have worked at other companies in my career. Oxy is not the best ( by a long shot)... Holidays Evenings Saturday's and Sunday's paid by far the best money for oil finders. Oxy pays competitively because no one actually wants to apply and work at Oxy on their own accord. That's why Oxy buys companies and captures professional expertise.....
I've worked for five companies over thirty years in the industry. Oxy pays the best and has the best work life balance.
@cs+1jk, having worked at a couple E&Ps, including a major, i can confirm that Oxy has top notch pay and benefits. Why would people work there if the pay wasn’t on par or better.
Because there is nothing like taking the change of control package, walk across the street and work for someone else. Trust me, I've done it.
Interesting comment regarding OXY pay and benefits. I thought sentiment was that OXY paid bottom quartile among E&Ps?
More generally, I agree that the "quit and stay" approach is the right call for many OXY people with other priorities. That said, for a motivated employee willing to work hard, why not take the leap?
It is a good point you have about the excellent perks that working at Oxy comes with. The chances are whoever buys Oxy will take back the work from home policy and may take away the 9/80 Friday off. By the way work from home has always been available and taken advantage of for many decades. The policy was that you have to show up for work Monday through Friday for 8 hours per day. Beyond that you are welcome to work nights and weekends from home. How soon we forget how things used to be and how nice we have it now.
I will contiue to work hard for my pay and benefits because many of us believe in doing the jobs we are paid for. In the best of worlds Oxy will be acquired and the COC pay will allow many to get a fresh start. Oxy is no worse than most companies who employees come to this site to complain. Just look at the Exxon and Chevron comments on this site. Throw in working from home on Monday and Friday with every other Friday off, and there are many potential eomployees out there to take the place of Oxy employees that leave. in fact Oxy would probably welcome if many of the complainers would just leave on their on.
Wait it out, BK on the horizon and or severance. Can’t keep the ship afloat much longer- OXY has decent assets left domestically unfortunately the bloated system (multiple directors who do absolutely nothing, incompetence from VPs and managers with zero direction who also do nothing…) the band has begun to play and the iceberg has been hit - the Titanic is on its way down.
Most would be fools to resign. Oxy’s comp and benefits can’t be beaten. Even for those that loath their jobs, they should think very carefully before quitting.
People won't leave. Coasting will be common. Will wait for severance or change of control....
I think a lot of people are feeling the same way
