The job market is a dumpster fire. Take whatever you can. Days of being picky are gone.
Previously at Cisco for more than 15 years. Then jumped to a startup for 1 year doing same stack, and now at FAANG. No one at FAANG cared to asked about my experience at Cisco.
with Cisco being the last line on your resume, it will be slim pickings
there is a price to be paid for underperforming, phoning-it-in etc...there is a serious reputational hit which impacts your ability to land something better
contrast this with a place like Netflix...tough place to work but your resume floats to the top of the stack if you want to move on
this is compounded by the number of lifers at Cisco...these folks with ten+ years at Cisco don't even remember what real work is anymore
