Thread regarding TIAA (TIAA-CREF) layoffs

Wow… I’m shocked.

Hi, I was based in the NY office since 2016 and I was laid off last year because of budgetary reasons within the CAO dept. I’ve still had a few contacts within the New York office and within the other offices since I know a lot of the people within Facilities. It’s actually very sad with everything that’s been happening. I’ve met so many great people and to possibly know that they’ve possibly been laid off, it’s horrible. Also the fact that I’ve seen some posts that the Jacksonville and Denver offices are closing it actually upsets me so much. sigh

Corporate America gets worse and worse each year. It isn’t just TIAA even though it feels like it. The rich get richer, and then they leave the rest of us just enough crumbs to survive.

Take control of your finances and plan to retire as early as possible.

To be fair, at what point in the last 25 years has anyone said this company is BETTER than it used to be? How many times does any employee at any company say their company has gotten better from an employee's perspective? Take it all with a grain of salt.
