3M DEI?

Will 3M cancel its DEI programs? Thoughts?

DEI has been exposed as a money making scheme used by consultants to enrich themselves and by "marginalized" people to get unjust promotions.

3M has an unwritten rule that any straight white male can't get a promotion after 50.

DEI is really better known as DIE. Divisiveness, Indoctrination, and (for those who resist Indoctrination) Excommunication.

Good riddance.

I'm still confused if 3M HR Pride Month will be celebrated this year at 3M Center as per usual.
I tried contacting HR for clarity but couldn't get a straight answer.

Any university would have provided candidates with the diversity of thought actually needed.

Bad candidates? We extended our interviews/searches to non-traditional (UMN, UW, UIUC, etc.) universities to explore more diverse candidates. Guess what? we found some awesome candidates that we actually hired. Really top tier. Never would have found them if we hadn't been looking at schools with more diverse students.

Why is everyone here so obsessed with DEI?

I view it more like new carpeting in the 3M Center: sure, it's nice to have but it doesn't make my job any different and it doesn't have an appreciable effect on the bottom line.

Why are you all so concerned about something that doesn't matter?

What DEI programs, exactly? Can you name any? Employee resource networks (which include Military Support Network) have not been funded beyond the odd stale pastry spread for years, and last time I checked the COC is still mostly white men…

Of course they will overturn. They aren’t leaders anymore; they just follow others these days.

They will follow the political winds without apology (they did the same with vax mandates and said they were just following the law, almost definitely knowing the executive order would be overturned - leaving 3M following a law that never existed). DEI policies will see the same fate.
