Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

How many are willing to quit over RTO?

I know a lot of us have strong feelings on this issue but I can't afford to lose my job at this point in time. I know a few people who have started looking and plan to quit as soon as they find something. How many of you are in this camp? How bad will attrition get in the coming period?

Just as the Work Appropriately definition has changed, the Dress Appropriately definition has changed as well.

When employees return to the office, all males will be expected to wear tuxedos and females will wear ball gowns in order to do their work in the most efficient and collaborative way possible. Expect many intangible benefits from elevating the dress code.

Another betrayal by management. "Work appropriately" is a kick in the teeth because it was sold as recognition of the maturity and value of the GM salaried employee. Instead, they should of just plainly stated the edict "we will be temporarily working from home". No sugary-sweet fluff, no pandering. They decided on lies, as usual.

I’m guessing that last comment means it doesn’t matter what they say rather than it doesn’t matter what happens.

We had a staff meeting last week where the manager asked how we feel and the general consensus was "it doesn't matter."

I don't want to work at a place like that.

"There’s a newsletter? How much?"
The guy who loves to brag about investing while being paid by GM would love to send you one for free. The newsletter just says the same thing every day. Here's the summary:

"When a single trade earns you more than you earn in salary in a single month, you have to start to wonder which is irrelevant."

It's really a question to ponder. If only I had more 2020 hoax Covid to ponder while I built my business.

Should I quit my salaried position to invest full time? $10,000 per month is good money, but a salaried position still "almost" rivals it. If I go back to the office, that investment income will be significantly less. The difference, I only need to browse the trading platform for a limited time to make that $10k, verses spending 40 hours each week. Salary dependent of course.

What to do, what to do. Obviously, I don't care if they lay me off or fire me. That's the easy answer. Making bank, but being forced back to office is the limitation. By going back to the office, they are f**king with my money.

My organization was always told we would go back 2 days a week so I would not consider quitting over 3 days on-site. What may make me quit as a result of RTO are things like the distrust in senior leadership this has caused, GM not really caring about being a workplace of choice even though they constantly say that and how much extra work I get if they don’t backfill those who do quit.

Dangerous position to take as a corporation.

I think the "everyone must get their Covid shots", then oh we were just kidding BS, is enough to never trust a corporation ever again, if you ever did so in the first place. Our corporation did the "we went from 10% unvaxxed, to 95% vaxxed in a single weekend" piece. Shut the eff up liars. It couldn't be statistically or logistically be possible, as they bowed to the mandates given to them, to tow the narrative push.

They know the people are pi---d off, at everything. All lies, and all the propaganda. Only now, they "don't know" how many people are working behind enemy lines within their own corporation, or lack of working for that matter. Those that will not tow the corporate line any longer. They put in on their smiles, but that's it.

Corporations blew their load, and all the credibility with it. The people see it.

If anyone from GM management is reading this, know that the vast majority of the individual contributors would agree that they were happier and more productive working from home. Soliciting feedback and then ignoring it is a very, very bad idea IMO. You can gather by now that people are upset enough to look for other opportunities and many are determined to "quiet quit." Not good.

Many people made life-altering changes after being assured by GM that they valued a "work life balance". I can easily imagine how betrayed they will feel if this RTO is ham-fisted in it's execution. PS New buzzwords (collaboration) and redefined expressions (work appropriately, one team) will not endear anyone when they now have to worry about what to do with mom, how the kids are home-schooled or how they will manage a 2 hour drive each way.

Their threats don't really affect me as much these days, so I can go either way. I make nearly as much with my investments that if layoff happens, don't care. If I quit, I'll work somewhere else. Or, if I just want to trade, I'll do that until I'm ready to go back, if I ever am.

It just happens that working from home, coincided with earning a respectable income glancing at the trading platform from time to time. Won't be able to do that so easily in the office, so I really have to consider whether I want to fire the company or not.

When a single trade earns you more than you earn in salary in a single month, you have to start to wonder which is irrelevant.
