Thread regarding Crown Castle International Corp. layoffs

Navigating office politics

Everything here runs on who you know. If you’ve got a connection in a high place, you’re set. If you don't, you're out of luck. Only one thing left to do in that case. Stay invisible. Keep quiet, don’t draw attention, and don’t overdo it. Working too hard just means more late nights and no real payoff. At this stage, sometimes it’s smarter to just keep it low-key and ride it out.

Um for those that don't get the fact that people will be more loyal to family than the companies success, you're living in a bubble. It's exactly why most companies have anti nepotism policies. Crown is so polluted that the inbred web has more operational control than the emt.

A bunch of people w no outside experience trained by people who have no outside experience and they're all managers and directors. I guess in accounting that prob doesn't matter but management, customer service, building teams and processes, ya you need outside experience somewhere in the mix. Total insanity.

100% if you're not related at southpoint you're going nowhere.

Look at y’all blaming south pointe again. I’d say it was all of the consultants and recent college grads with little experience working in Houston.

If we had more diversity in how we hired at all levels, we wouldn’t have these weak links — too much who you know or what school or consulting firm you came from.

“It’s not what ya know it’s who ya know”. The battle cry of every person looked over for a promotion.

That's a double edged sword right there. If you're invisible, then they'll be looking straight at you and the person nobody likes for the next RIF.
