That way, I wouldn’t have to worry about doing my job well while I search for something better. It would give me the chance to fully focus on my job search while still getting paid. I don’t understand why people stress when they’re put on a PIP. It’s practically the perfect opportunity to exit this mess on your own terms.

You can ask to be piped but it is not automatic. There are many factors in the piping process. These factors are age, race and gender. If you fit the quota for that year you may get your pip wish. Just like the favorites are protected by the managers the others are watched by HR. Performance is just a perception or fit in the bell curve. Look at all the oldies just collecting a check and mailing it in. I have seen some of these stay around for years.
You can self-nominate yourself for PIP. Just ask your manager to put you in the NSI category. He/she will gladly oblige.
PIP season starts in july of this year. Here is the plan for 40 to 50 year olds play the game and try to pass the pip. 20 to 30 years get the he-l out do not pass pip and leave asap. 52 to 55 no pip just pcp ride it out till RE. over 55 either play the game and get a few more years or gtfo. over 60 get the he-l out asap. You people can do what you want. I have my plan and am ready to go any time. I am just waiting for the piping and it is exciting. I want to see what lame a ss reason they will pip me.
