Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

I'm still hoping things will get better

I’m one of the few who genuinely loves my job. It’s interesting, pays well, and I have great coworkers. If it weren’t for the constant threat of layoffs hanging over our heads, it’d be a dream job for me. I see a lot of people here hoping the company will fail, but I’m in the opposite camp. I keep hoping things will improve so we can avoid more layoffs. I really don’t want to lose this job.

Cisco is the new IBM...

In part it's also the old IBM, having dropped $2B to acquire IBM's networking hardware division in 1999.

Cisco is the new IBM, too big to fail, consistently losing market share to more nimble competitors that are actually in tune with customers. Even if Chuck leaves, Fran steps right in and I'd argue the politics will get even more toxic.

@OP, We all have been there. However after years of seeing 'leadership' fail without any form of accountability. Being able to spread lies, fake news about our products and more.
Seeing pretty good collegues being fired for no appareant reason just some bs talks about 'refocus'.
It chips away at you, little by little, piece by piece untill ... how does the saying go again...
You are either sacked when enthousiastic or work here long enough but a poster just like myself.
With this being said. This will be my last post and visit to the forum as I just got a boot in my b-m and am ready to move on to fields which are just as green as cisco. It was a wonderful ride for the last 25 years.

It's refreshing to see a happy employee here vs. all the disgruntled ones.

Splunk was a bad buy because it is yesterday's tech for yesterday's market and Cisco wildly overpaid

Now Cisco has no $ for new acquisitions and the market has moved to AI

I am not following the "disastrous decision" to buy splunk. This is all part of CR's plan to move to software and recurring revenue. Cisco Networking is in the tank and now in a managed decline, with little to no sign of return to its previous glory. Cisco needed a software boost as it exits the hardware and infrastructure world. Splunk was a good move for Cisco, maybe not Splunk customers, but good for Cisco.
