How to Undo Retirement at Ford

I signed up for retirement on Life@ford last December for retiring January 31 to caring for my terminally ill father. Unfortunately my dad passed away 2 weeks ago leaving me with no purpose to retire early. I'm 55. Does the company give people a grace period in case they change their mind? Can I undo what I had submitted online back in December?

Sorry, I know this is not the site to ask retirement questions but I'm hoping to hear the experience from Ford retirees.

I pulled my retirement in spring of 2022 and then got retired with 9 month severance package. Best thing I ever did... Not one manager asked about my retirement but they sure asked when I stopped it. I think I got put on the top of the list to get packages.

If you have 30yrs and are 55yrs or older I would put in for retirement and then cancel it...

Why not sc--w with management will all the head games they play.

I actually rescinded mine a few years back. Call NESC immediately. They'll put a halt to all the work. That said you might need to sort out the retirement funds (redeposit as they get that moving before your date. Ask NESC to help with that. Also, make sure your phone and corporate card folks know as you'll end up on the separated list and they'll deactivate both. Good luck. Sorry for your loss.

Sorry for your loss. I wish you peace.

I believe you can rescind up to your last day of work. Call NESC on Monday first thing in the morning. If you don't get a good answer, ask for a manager. I believe you should be able to rescind. Make sure they send you an email confirmation.

Equally important is to inform your manager and your HR rep. They may have started the process to backfill your position.

You need to call NESC immediately to see if you are still within the timeframe you can rescind. If you are, they should be able to help you do that.

There is a time limit to pull it back. Suggest you read HR online retirement policy or contact HR asap.
