When your CTO is all DEI

Today at the PCS All Hands after Ragu went on about how great stuff is, Kit Colbert, the CTO comes on and I'm thinking okay we are going to hear about some new cool tech. But no, he starts virtual signaling about DEI. Then he introduces an engineer and I'm thinking okay he's going to tell us about some cool tech that he's working on. But no, after a minute of saying what is job is, he goes into a woe-is-me story about his rough childhood. It's bad enough when Betsy and her minions virtue signal all day long. They can't even do their jobs helping people develop their careers. But then the CTO and engineers can't even talk tech and have to pile on with the wokeness. I guess that we are not a tech company, we are just a camp for the woke folk.

I applied to a position a few years back and was denied due to "needing diversity on the team." The recruiter legitmately told me I was the top candidate but that the senior director needed to hire diverse candidates due to the team being only white men. Sure enough one woman and one minority made the team.

My org has also jumped on the dei wagon..now its gona be a goal for all managers.eventually our hiring decision will be based on DEI and not merit.. unfortunate

True. If we could get rid of half the country, or just move them all to California and say bye bye to that state the USA would be much better off. Maybe New York also. Actually Washington state and Oregon too.

Sorry, I really had to laugh at this exchange. Anyone who uses “woke” and “virtue signaling” in the same breath is virtue signaling of a sort themselves. Both terms these days are just dog whistles to 1/2 of the population. It’s basically like saying — the half of you who will disagree with me can leave now because I’m only interested in talking to people who completely agree with me, and if you contradict me 1 ounce I will refuse to listen to anything else you say.

Note that the “defender” wasn’t really defending anything per se, just telling you not to get so wound up about it…

What tech discussion would be useful? We've seen the periodic chart. There is just so much, and each BU doesn't care about what the other BUs are doing. So what can be discussed at a PCS that has application across all BUs.

There's always the ability to turn down your speaker, or leave the meeting, if you're being triggered by content.

Thanks for the info, I’m going to put my a description of my terrible childhood on my next performance review so I can get a raise.

Probably the lack of ability to say honestly how f’d we are enables them to fill meeting time with this type of filler material.
