Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

If anyone is wondering if there will be layoffs/cuts soon

Chuck said in April 2020 that Cisco, unlike others, will not layoff people during the lockdowns. Guess what happened 4 months later after August? One of the massive layoffs at Cisco.

Here’s a hint: Chuck lies. Repeatedly. Always.

If he says there’d be no layoffs then there’d definitely be LRs but maybe not “layoffs”.

This. Layoffs can and do happen all the time. We are never safe.

Highly doubtful. AI will be the juice for Csco for the next 2-3 years.

His reality will be different couple of weeks later.

Maybe, but they will have a solid idea of what the numbers look like on a day-to-day basis, so I'm not expecting any surprises to the downside come earnings day.

“ I think this time he's telling the truth.”

He is telling the truth for this point in time. His reality will be different couple of weeks later. When would you grunts learn? How many times have we seen this happen again and again?! And again and again people fall for the same con. Pathetic naivety.

CR denied on the EMEA all hands that they have any plans for LR.
Believe it or not is up to you. I think this time he's telling the truth.

Who are these clowns who say severance will be cut every time and are always wrong? Cite your sources or admit you're making it up.

Chuck stated on AI Summit, 30% cuts are possible with AI innovations.

More cuts, height stock, more money for ELT. It’s that simple.

Chuck never lies; it's just the dynamics of the business changing (/s)

“ That was not in April 2020, was it? Can you check your source, please.”

Yes it was. There was a consultation email chain for LR started in the U.K. in March 2020, the second occurrence of the same in about 6 odd months. 2 of those consultation emails in as many weeks and CR comes out in an All Hands and announces proudly that Cisco won’t fire anyone during the lockdowns. Only to go back on his word and trigger one of the largest layoffs in the history of Cisco and largest in a decade, within 4 months of mouthing off a bunch of lies.

CR is a liar. A glorified conman. But in the U.K. we got quickly used to the culture of being managed by psychotic conmen under DM and CP.

look at it from the other side of the table

consider that for low/moderate skill work like most Cisco employees perform, employees are totally fungible

so when times are good, bring a bunch of people on

when the gravy train grinds to a halt, just turf them all

you can always hire more mouth-breathers to run unit tests on your decade-old codebase

Cisco is not doing cutting-edge technical work, we are pushing commodity tech through sales channels to d-mb customers who happen to have money

If you want to be indispensable, make yourself indispensable and work for a company in markets that demand and value indispensable talent

Cisco is the McDonald's of tech...you are as important to the world of tech as a burger flipper is to the world of dining

With the new regime coming in, they will do what they did at Palo Alto. They are still recovering from the mess they caused. I’m happy to get LR’d or a PIP.i wont have to deal with the destruction being caused

It would be a shame to waste those hundreds of millions of layoff funds already allocated for it, and given this board went from near dormant with only two or three posts receiving replies each day to a rabid incel convention it's clear many more need to go.

Gravy train is over with "layoffs"/ benefits & large severance packages. It will be PIPs, RTO's and driving the workforce down and out with "do more with less" mentality burning you right out of the crib ....
