Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

I think allstate is purposely trying to lose money

The last two earnings have been abysmal. As an employee of course we like the $2,000 retention bonuses but multiply that by 40,000 employees and that's 80 million per year in expenses. Then the gift cards are another story. Before covid gift cards weren't taxed and I remember maybe 3 or 4 a month would be rewarded total per team. Now I notice like at LEAST 3 or 4 a week and sometimes like 8 - 10. The gift cards are $10 - $25. I believe in recognition but if a company really wants to manage expenses spending four or five times as much on gift cards doesn't make sense. I think they are losing money on purpose to justify these layoffs that are about to happen

I'm sorry, this is one of the most ignorant rants I've seen on this site. No company wants to lose money. The 80 million in retention bonuses and some fringe benefits are a drop in the bucket compared to the estimated 675 million dollar q3 loss. But keep thinking that the officers, and shareholders dont want to grow the business and make more money; and that this is all some conspiracy to lay you off, that's logical!
