Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

There goes the Neighborhood

When mentioning the new “Neighborhood” concept, must say “There goes the” in front of it.

This innovative torture of employees is KM trying to justify her $18+ million in bonuses last year.

Part of the justification is that this has been implemented in 19 locations. Brutalizing employees in 19 locations successfully is not a justification to brutalize the 20th.

In summary, EM would rather leave buildings empty than provide individual desks for each valued employee.

Dear Bloomberg. Have we got a great little article for you. Please call the usual number for all the beans.

If KM’s performance metrics (aka bonus) is based off of hitting headcount targets as quickly as possible - she is knocking it out of the freakin’ park!

Maybe we can yell “Marco - Polo “ to help find each other in the new neighborhood concept? This place has turned into such a joke!

EM is upgrading private office suites for executives at same time taking assigned cubicles away from workforce and only assigning a lockable drawer.

Two goals will be achieved successfully:

  1. Reduce upkeep costs on abandoned building
  1. Increased attrition and destruction of loyalty for those that remain and quiet quit

The presentation at goto/neighborhoods does call it hot desking. There is even a campfire icon. Slide 2.

This change was the straw that broke the camels back. Interview with Google scheduled for Monday.

15 year employee. Supervisor. Ranked outstanding multiple years in a row.

Adopting WE3 as a hardship when EM outgrows it’s office space is bearable.

Implementing WE3 because executives want to mothball more offices just seems like elites torturing the minions for entertainment.

Mixture of disregard and disrespect.

The only logical motivation is to promote attrition.

Yammer leg humpers... That's going to be my new favourite!!!!!

Reducing the workforce down to WE3 before any indication if the unused offices can be monitized is insulting.

EM (KM) would rather let those buildings rot empty that give each employee an assigned desk.

Seems like EM (KM) is trying to increase attrition and destroy all confidence and loyalty of the employees that remain.

The presentation expressly said this is not ‘Hotdesking.’

Guess what every employee in every other center calls it? Hotdesking. Because guess what it is? It’s Hotdesking.

Then ‘accessibility to more managers?’ So because you cannot promote people who are actual leaders and willingly come out of their offices occasionally…..you take away everyone’s desk? Thanks. Tail wagging the dog.

Seriously, these people think they have some Jedi mind trick? I bet they spent more on the consultants and marketing of ‘Neighborhoods’ than the actual savings. And it is only called ‘Neighborhoods’ on campus because the initiative is so despised everywhere else.

Yes, I also noticed that the email kind of implied that the employees asked for it. Some of you might recall that the ranking changes that brought us NSI were also presented as employee requested.
Gaslighting is everything and everywhere these days!
Next up: you have asked to be replaced by overseas centers!

To add even more insult, the email actually implied that this is what people wanted. Other than a select bunch of yammer leg humpers , we all know no one asked for this. Apparently WE3 has negative connotations so we must now call it neighborhoods. I wonder how much we paid a consultant for that nugget.

You'll know it's time to leave when they force you to sit in the desk occupied the day before by someone with COVID.

Remodeling of private Executive offices while implementing WE3 with an over abundance of office space during record profits has to be the biggest F U in the history of all F U’s.

Guys!! Since we're gonna be in neighborhoods or, "hoods," if you will, what if we form our own local employee interest groups with others in the hood nearby?

All of us in the same "hood" can then make a team ... Sort of a "gang" of folks that all hang out together!

We could even have official team colors - like red or blue maybe. Then we could "compete to win" against other "gangs" in other "hoods."

I think it'll be a lot of fun!!

The Tx tax-breaks involve number of occupied seats.
Rumor has it they'll install a Harris County Jail spin-off in some corner buildings.

Rumor has it that they we’re going to rent the buildings out to consultants or other businesses. But that would mean giving up control. How would security be able to handle it? Instead people are forced to not have desks and aren’t allowed to work from home.

Gotta make room for the Low carbon “solutions”, the greenwashing team, and all the green paint they need to bamboozle. They get assigned desks, offices for the lifers that came in lifeboats from exploration and projects, and of course an entire floor for his eminence, the executive from Detroit and his startup team.

You need to understand that after the next round of PIP's in 2023 (a.k.a. layoffs), there will be individual desks for everyone even if they are "neighborhood" desks between now and next summer.

The layoffs will continue until at least the end of the year 2023 and to even 2025 especially in the higher-cost United States, Europe, and Singapore locations.

The party is not over. Let the PIP games continue.

Yes, we have plenty of office space for everyone.

But, we would rather have empty buildings going to waste than to give each employee an assigned desk.

We do not know if we can rent them out, sell them, or just leave them empty, but all those options are better than assigning desks to valued employees.

Statements by multiple caring EM Executives in their private assigned offices.
