I’m not a union member, but I know they are throwing union folks off their jobs and then cutting the jobs and/or recategorizing them as managerial/non-union and making folks reapply. I don’t understand how/why the union is letting them do that? Isn’t that a form of union-busting? The union members I talk to just shrug and say their union rep was there so it must approve. But, like what’s the point of a union rep if he’s not going to fight this kind of thing?
My manager has a very long territory. Over 8hrs from end to end. With that said, besides his weekly call he mostly has nothing to do.l, and its so easy to tell. The guys in the field however are hopelessly overextended, some more so than others. While the guys are focused on putting the biggest fires out first our manager goes back and forth to his house, goes shopping, meets his friends for extended 3+hour lunches in bougie restaurants, and he gets every other friday off. If his wife starts to annoy him he packs a suitcase and travels to the other end of his territory to stay in a hotel for the week. The only time he gets engaged is when we all start checking out, he becomes super stressed at thought of himself having to get on track authority or troubleshoot a problem.
There will ALWAYS be too many managers.. The higher ups have to feel safe, and protect their jobs.. It’s the actual workers that will continue to be short.. I’ve never seen so many $100$150k managers/sups do absolutely nothing
Yeah I agree. There's WAY too many managers again, and most have no clue of what they're doing! The UP DOES NOT NEED the number of management that they have. ATTENTION UP! Slim down or eliminate the lower management entirely! They're not needed and all they do is slow locations down.
Hopefully to trim down management. Good grief all kinds of managers with some fancy title running around. How many do they really need????
I just come to work and just try to do little as possible! They don't appreciate us and we just don't care anymore.
Yermo su-ks! I thought Cisneros was bad! And Frank was just plain assss stupid.
I just go forwards and backwards, 19 years ago when I started, I was all in the loop of this bullsh-t, get the courage to care and say to yourself who cares. Those that know, know just show up do your thing and go home. I wondered why so many of the old heads would just sit and nod, they didn't say much just nodded, came in briefed, went to the train, took their time, they didn't answer the dispatcher or radio until they were ready. I do the same thing now. Stop rushing to go sit down or rush into a test. Remember, you can't have PSR when they can't even afford to put in or fix these rails not to mention all these speed restrictions. They are doing nothing but talking among themselves. When you tune out the bullsh-t, makes your day or trip go better.
Been hearing things huh? Yeah I've been hearing things too, but I've learned how to ignore them because almost all of the things I've heard never happened. I'm not sure about the title of this post, but isn't that why Vena was brought back? Isn't his PSR game just reorganizing the company anyways? If that isn't what he's been doing the whole time, then what was the purpose of the mass furloughs? Seriously, learn how to ignore the attention seekers at the company. They'll say anything to get it, truth ot not!
