Thread regarding NXP layoffs

Should company aquired by NXP expect layoffs?

My company got aquired by NXP few weeks ago. We were told that aquisition is done because NXP wants to develop their own software solution, since we worked on NXP hardware, so we should not be afraid of layoffs, because NXP wants engineers with knowledge, but this sounds like classic management BS to me.

I saw that NXP bought some other companies in the past too so I hoped if anyone here have some experience regarding this topic?

What to expect?

First the merger needs to complete, will take months. Then it will be analyzed what is redundat, and which sites don't make sense in the larger picture. All small ones usually, those go immediately.
There is often a mindset in NXP that a certain focus area will be invested in for aboit 5 years, as the next big thing. If it dosn't deliver it will be cut down to scale. So overall not easy to answer in the curren Situation

Look at history at both NXP, and other companies. That should give you a strong, but not definitive answer. The have the IP now, do they need you? Good news, the CEO and CFO of your company are rolling in dough. They don't care now.

TBH, I think the 2 acquisitions we made in the last 3 months were mostly because of the IP. If we talk about TTTechAuto I'm not sure that NXP wants to expand in Balkan so they might close those offices. Those couple hundred engineers can anyways be easily replaced in MT's view...
