Thread regarding Marathon Petroleum layoffs

With BP oil cutting around 4700 plus 3000 contractors will Marathon Petroleum be next?

Margins went up 1.4% on announcements. Pays to follow what other competitors are doing.

Just bring back 5 day work weeks. More productivity or less people. Win-win!!!

If you work in a refinery, you should always pay attention to what goes on at all refineries across the world. Especially those currently in active, current wars like Ukra-ne and Russ-a. What is targeted? Keep improving safety . Be knowledgeable. Never give up on fresh ideas on how to protect your own hometown refinery and stay active in volunteer safety programs.

50-50 chance. Poor economy means less oil or gas needed but the odds are we may see a war. Wars need lots of oil and gas supplies. Not a goodtime to buy a house or purchase a new car for sure.

BP is also known for doing cuts and layoffs periodically. MPC tends to be stingy on hiring so when cuts are made it is contractors. But who knows anymore.

Companies do tend to shadow each other's moves. Bears watching or at least knowing the possibilities for your own financial future. Have a back up plan for any possible lay offs always.
