I was part of the large riff carried out over three days January 2025. With 18 years of experience and always a top performer. The merger has dictated the layoffs, Top Executives of Windstream are protecting their positions. Executives from Uniti are making decisions. They are eliminating the enterprise division plus additional employees from all divisions. Uniti does not wish to have enterprise sales. You are a number on a spreadsheet - longevity, performance and knowledge has zero effect on your likelihood of continued employment.
A word for all those that have been affected or will be affected:
The right place values you the right way.
If you are not valued, don't be angry.
It means you are in the wrong place.
Those that who know your value are those that appreciate it.
NEVER stay in a place that no one sees your value!
It's obvious that I was not valued at Windstream, nor are those that were riffed and those that will be riffed.
It's called a market economy.

Agreed - people fall into false sense of security in their jobs, then are surprised when they are let go for 'shareholder blah blah'. Don't feel bad, some executive there now is buying a new yacht with the money saved.

Windstream is a complete joke . As well as the people running it . Managers are clueless . There is no loyalty no matter what position. Don’t let the useless managers tell you we didn’t know . They know . Be glad they set you free. Horrible place to work .

I'm not sure how anyone is shocked. We have watched colleague after colleague get layoff the past 3 years. It's picking up speed now because of the merger. Is it sad,absolutely. If you were paying attention you would know this was going to happen and it's going to continue to happen.
On the other hand - everyone who is left will be asked to do even more - so there is that - are you going to bend over or standup folks?
If you think this is over and you didn’t get hit yet, don’t get too comfortable. I’m sure they are not done yet. Even once this week is over, there will be more before or at the time of the merger. I guarantee it. Expect re-orgs and realignment moves too. If you are one of the many new to the company, get used this, if you can’t handle it you might as well go elsewhere now. Back to the norm now. The holiday break from this is officially over.

Unionize people. Not saying we can’t get hit to but haven’t had a layoff in my area going on 20+ years of my service. And believe me , there’s employees that have no right on working here anymore! Skating under the radar.

The local connection centers/retail survived thanks to the great leadership of MB and WS. Back to flipping some accounts, events for some overtime, and instagram, tech h/ups.
This is so disgusting. You work your a** off for them and get ousted. Doesn’t matter if you bust your tail or watch TikTok. Nice integrity by the way….
