Appears TL deleted a number of comments here. Some may wonder what the Francis reference is about. Here is one of the original comments.

Censorship needs to be about cause. No rules were violated in this or the comment being responded to. I'm glad to repost, although I'm neither commenter. I'd saved the thread to share with a former colleague.

With personal smearing like this, this site is officially a joke. Grow up.

Ok Francis.

What smearing? TH is a terrible CTO and has been in the role for so long there would be value bringing in someone with outside knowledge and views. TH certainly hasn't shown competence or innovation. What has occurred may have been in spite of him.

Andy, the freshest knowledge we brought in, was quickly dismissed. His CV is filled with superior credentials and he became a threat to TH, TP and other club members.

Stripes! OMG. Totally forgot about that movie. “There's something wrong with us, something very, very wrong with us. Something seriously wrong with us - we're soldiers. But we're American soldiers!”

Reduce dependence on the mainframe?!

Another Tiny failure. He and JM started that a decade ago. Book and Records only. Right.

We should outsource the critical mainframe function, which will remain vital for years. The few dedicated employees are overworked and near retirement.

3 why Schwab is hiring , Mainframe people from vendor if they were going to reduce dependency on it.

Does any one have any insight on this?

We actually do need to expose the names of some leaders at Schwab who have been reported multiple times, but continue to be protected by HR.

Just curios

  1. What impact will the implementation of advanced AI have on individuals employed on H-1B visas?
  1. What will be the future of H-1B visa holders once the Hyderabad office is fully operational?
  1. why Schwab is hiring , Mainframe people from vendor if they were going to reduce dependency on it.

Storage was object. Object this. Object that. Kinda cloudy but Timmy wanted objects.

Unless they can be the first one to hit the market, there will be no advantage if all financial services companies implement AI.

True, and I daresay, even if they are the first to hit the market.

Tiny repeats what he hears and doesn't understand half of it. A CTO should understand, execute and implement. Leverage expertise. Listen to experts who know systems, not just vendors. Drop wishful thinking based on poor understanding of current trends.

STS was going to change storage years ago. Make it cloudy. Tiny ignored technical limitations and how things work. Disrupted business plans and implementations. We didn't change storage. It was impossible. He didn't listen to his experts.

He also missed major objectives. Failures to listen were bailed out by Says, JR and Loomis trucks of cash.

Why does Schwab need AI other than to automate jobs and layoff workers? I don’t want investment advice from AI. I want experienced advisors and the relationship and the trust that is built with them. I want software applications that won’t fail when an unexpected market event happens. They need to fix what they already have first.

Like others have mentioned, they have been moving to the cloud for a decade now. Why do they think they can successfully implement AI? Unless they can be the first one to hit the market, there will be no advantage if all financial services companies implement AI.
