This is true. Every layoff I try my best to be incompetent but I never have been let go. Everytime I ask if I can be put on the layoff list they refuse saying we are not going to let that happen. I am at a loss to understand what I need to do to get on that fu--ing list. At this point I might as well start another job and leave this on cruise.
Upper management needs to conduct a thorough study on this to ensure a fair and effective outcome.
Upper management had a huge role in making the technical debt which is choking Cisco. Many low and middle people still need to go, but far more high level people also need to go.
There are a lot of people who’ve been with the cisco for a long time, doing minimal work, and it's surprising that they’re still here. When LR happens, those who aren’t contributing will likely survive, while the hardworking employees may be affected. Upper management needs to conduct a thorough study on this to ensure a fair and effective outcome.
Carry on doing what you have all been doing for the last 4 years .. sitting on your A..ses and taking the money watching the woke management show ... Fran the man is gonna get ya hooRah!
ELT is always quiet before the LRs, and every six months “rumors” turn out to be true.
All companies have started nee years with layoffs. Looks like 2026 will be the year for a good job market :P
Rinse and repeat. Easy peas.
If you had to choose between two evils— 1) your house burning down in a wildfire or 2) getting LR'd by Cisco — which would you pick?
I would pick 1. For me an LR would be more devastating than loosing my house to a fire.
If you get LR’d in Feb expect the bonus to be bare minimum in March . They will take $ from your bonus and move it to severance bucket . Rest of the folks with a job will be told you are lucky to have a job so don’t question your bonus amount . Bla bla same story every 6 months .
There are no whispers or any indication of a layoff in February.....its quiet
They will probably do another "Cruelty LR" where they announce 10% layoffs on the mid-February corporate earnings call in order to get a stock boost.
Then force employees to wait a month (mid march) to learn of their fate.
The stress zone between Feb 15th to March 15th will be agonizing, unproductive and full of fear. ELT knows that 1-2% of people will quit as a result.
The cruelty is the point
If you get LR'd in February do you still receive your bonus that comes in March or is that lost?
Just because your team is growing does NOT mean layoffs aren't coming. My team at another company got 3 new people, a round of raises, and a round of promotions and 2 months later, we're all laid off.
Turns out they were planning on outsourcing us for over a year and gave us all raises and promotions so we didn't leave before the service contract kicked in
Thimaya recent LI post talks of simplifying and getting rid of waste. Ops in crosshairs.
Anyone know what approximate date in February this would be announced? Im assuming late in the month. Also how does LR relate to bonus payout? I guess if you get laid off in Feb you dont get your Bonus in March and only get severance instead.
It’s the same guy talking to himself here. Nothing announced nor confirmed. In fact quite the opposite, we are growing and continue hiring in our team.
My total comp went from an average of 360K for a Tech Lead 2 to an average total comp of over 2.2 million at Nvidia over the last 7 years.
A quick check on the Google machine shows over 7 million tech companies in the world. What percentage do you think offer that level of income to their tech people?
When Cisco had real money they also paid their people millions and looking at the code bases from that time Cisco was severely ripped off. Until Nvidia's drivers start working I'll have the same opinion about some of their staff.
Where is all this info coming from?
10% reduction confirmed.
I will be listening to the earning call, followed with public reaction on this board. This is now a very predictable usual routine under CR. He will appear on CNBC, the next day on how great the numbers are, and the talent refocus.
Our leadership is meeting next week, and the last time they all met was a month before layoffs.
The 2 months is so they can issue WARN notice on the day of announcement.
The purpose is to cause the stock price to rise (layoffs are a cost reduction)
Layoffs will be MASSIVE on the February Q2 earnings call.
Splunk is losing customers. Several top AI resources went to competitors and the enormous spend for “AI everywhere” requires it.
Best thing that happened to me was being laid off from this cr-p company
Laid off in 2017 November
My total comp went from an average of 360K for a Tech Lead 2 to an average total comp of over 2.2 million at Nvidia over the last 7 years.
Cisco is run as a government compared to other high tech companies. Be happy you get your six months and get the heck off this sinking piece of s"'''t.
I don’t see any WARN notice!!
Great! All I need is to wait till end of Feb and I will be on the layoff list. I already have a job lined up. Cisco do the right thing and pay the people to leave to avoid getting sued.
Repeat…
The severance will be 2 months notice period + one month pay. Seems bad
What roles in CX for layoff?
February. CX and other areas of clean up.
Cisco is the worst place to work!
I'm numb to even worrying about it at this point. If it happens so be it. Its likely it would be a blessing in the long run and would better off somewhere else that doesnt fire large percentages of their employee "family" every 6 months to cover for their lousy corporate (mis)management. Same reason I stopped watching the all hands video meetings they send out, I cant even remember the name of them. All they do is babble about AI and what their new cr-ppy plan is while making excuses for the tough times we just went thru.
Did I miss the announcement?
I just accepted a teaching role at the local college so Im dumping the corporate tech roller coaster good riddance. I havent let Cisco know yet maybe I will get lucky and be LR'd first and have a nice severance to use for a new car.
Got my severance package.
This is why I stick around. Love it here!
Hope they layoff CP, DM and hordes of cronies and DEI hires in the UK.
