Thread regarding Canon Inc. layoffs

Morale… what morale?

Completely unprofessional starting from the top with incompetence that than hires and promotes the next round of incompetence. Supervisors talking to employees about other employees personal lives. Employees used as mo--s to report back to the mgrs. Some of these mgrs should have retired years ago instead of hanging on and Treating their workers like s. while micro managing and getting off on turning down any and all requests for accommodations such as time off on certain days or WFH while battling cancer, sick child, car broken down use your time is the response. Where is the humanity? mgrs getting demoted when they shouldn’t have been promoted in the first place. Do they get to keep their pay? so many people that had been with the company for a very long time took buyouts in their 60’s last year in fear of getting let go if they didn’t? Company trying to save while promoting let that make sense. Shifts that have been changed for some teams but not all? How is it ok for some teams to work less hours with the same pay? Come in when it snows, state of emergency. Canon’s response no you cannot work from home! Come to the office and who cares if you get in an accident? People leaving work that day slipping and falling outside in the parking lot? They don’t give a . about their employees! Meetings are bs! Stop giving us these overblown numbers and goals , we don’t care! Our pay stays the same and the fears of losing our jobs remain the same! Employee appreciations are a slap in the face! Mgrs watching you as you grab your food and not engaging but rather talking amongst themselves. Probably saying look at these peasants eating up the sh)) we give them. Motivational speakers talking about concentration camps, the irony of it all. Do more, work more come in the office more …. an office that can’t maintain a consistent temp? Hot water out of order for weeks? Holiday on an In office day hey no problem come in that Thursday so we can see you in office 3 days a week regardless of holidays, snow . Yes the new hybrid work schedule it’s fantastic and trying to pi&& the already pi&&ed off employees off even more. They probably wondering why we haven’t all quit yet. you can substitute the third day in the office for another day if you can’t make it. Manager goes no you can’t! Wtf!? Do us all a favor and shut that place down! Let the roaches have a run at it since they are all over that place already eating our lunches.

I have to agree with this post! A supervisor got caught talking to another employee about one of their coworkers work performance and other non appropriate things! To no surprise that supervisor still has a job! Even though they have a track record of doing just that! So complaining to HR and bringing it to upper management attention does absolutely nothing!

They should invest in a few lessons on babble so the listeners can actually understand all of the ignorance that’s being spewed . But maybe it is better that way! Just put that sh:: on mute or even better call out.

Absolutely out of touch! The way the CEO or should I say the Emperor talks. “I know all of you hate me”. And then Mason talking about buying dr-gs in Manhattan! It is very concerning to think this is the leadership of Canon America. Every week with a holiday you get penalized and work a 3rd day at the office since the emperor needs to keep the building looking like it’s not empty. And then what about the other tool who said: yea we knew the free lunch would get them to come in for the second meeting. They think it’s like throwing a dog a bone. All will flock out of Canon as soon as they can. No respect, no room to grow and overworked. These are all quality’s of the TOP Worst Employers.

I’m hoping that most employees remember that when COVID happened in2020 and everyone was sent home that day with a laptop and told to start WFH when most had never done that before. Nobody missed a beat and the company was kept afloat by what being called now lazy workers that lay in bed till 11 and don’t do sh:: if it hadn’t been for those LAZY NO GOOD WORKERS the company would have folded years ago! Everyone worked from home even after being told that everyone had to financially maintain their internet and home office costs NO REIMBURSEMENT! Nobody complained and kept working making sure the company met their goals. People were layed off to save the company money and the ones left did the work for 3. Again people did it while WFH for several years. Now always sudden people are not productive when at home. Treating everyone like children that have to be watched or else Cost of living is up- pay is the same-more expenses commuting-added child care costs=unhappy and less productive employees

These people are so out of touch! Let’s not forget you get a 25% discount on your food ON FRIDAYS! What an incentive to go in that day! And why is the new president mentioned in a company meeting!? Tariffs are great for canon!? Happy about who the new president is Samantha said!? Despicable company and so out of touch with what is going on in the world! Let’s all go on strike!

Yesterday was painful. The benefit of coming in on Fridays is less traffic????

Even though we are on Teams Meetings all day, I thought the purpose of coming into the office is collaboration? How are you doing that if some people come in on Tuesdays, others Fridays lol

Yesterday's company meeting was deeply embarrassing. CEO starting off by saying we will be replacing lost human employees with generative AI (a concept nobody, especially the executive board, understands) and other leaders explaining how they make their teams come in because otherwise "they roll out of bed at 11 and check their computers once or twice" when working from home. Please tell us how you really feel about the people who work for you and make your company money. Why would this motivate anyone to promote the Canon brand?

To the original post on this thread. Since everyone is mentioning snow, I would assume that you all are from the NY office where it obviously snows. Sounds like you all are in a miserable way up there. But you would peeeee your pants if you know what was going on down in Florida and the previously named Canon Solutions America. As in your area, the CSA team also has numerous managers that have been demoted and moved around many times and yes they all kept their pay and continue to receive merit increases. Many are in the 200K+ or near that, which is unheard of for the position they are in and the location they live. While there is complaining about coming into the office, half the time you need someone they are out walking their dog, baby sitting a grand child or out on their boat. Keeping in mind, the people that come into the office are demo and support people that can only do their job using a piece of production equipment in the CIC or demo room. So having 2 days at home is like a wink and nod from their manager to not do much. Now don't get me wrong, many people who work from home work like a dog all hours of the day, but if you know how many service engineers or professional service people sit at home and do nothing and then when they actually have to go to a customer, their manager lets them get away with getting a hotel even when the customer is an hour away. See, there is a big problem between both the old CSA and CUSA, especially with CSA whose most people work from home because they are supposedly doing 80-90 percent customer travel, and they are actually doing less than 40 percent. So, slamming both organizations together will continue to be a nightmare for us all. By the time management figures this all out and cleans out all the bad directors and managers that are wasting profits, it will be all over. For our friends up north, everyone is speaking about moving sales to dealers, you do realize that CSA is and was just a clambering of dealer channels from the past. So i'll end with this, MORALE is going to be a mess in every division in Canon north America, especially as HR tries to unify the new organization post CSA CUSA merger.

The funny thing is that they could save money on overhead by allowing those who can work from home "WORK FROM HOME! Also last week with the snow and ice storms it was very dangerous, yet we still had to show up in the office. Not one big boy at Canon would dare call it a work from home day. Something is very very off with the way this company treats its employees and then "they" think it's because we are lazy, we don't want to work etc. I am not lazy. I work hard every day. I like to do a good job. I like to help customers and sales reps etc. Stop treating us like we are bad children and not adults. The punch in time clock is absolutely ridiculous. How about last week there was a meeting IN the lunchroom where everyone eats because our office doesn't have another room big enough to hold conferences or training. Save the environment? Ok let me work from home then there are no emissions from my car.

every day at the office is beyond miserable. It’s quieter than a library. Nobody talks. Nobody works together. Nobody cares about the company. And come 5pm, the prison doors open and everyone runs home as fast as possible.
