If a manager intends to retaliate against a GSR, they would sit on the buddy bench and a GSR would (hopefully) ask them how they are feeling. This would build a bridge of compassion between the manager and GSR, and potentially avoid hostile retaliation against a perfectly good GSR employee. If a manager is abusing a GSR, HR could send them to the Buddy Bench to try and work it out together.
