we have all heard the chatter about severance possibilities. 2 months+, 2 weeks per year, etc, etc
Well if you jump on Source and look for "severance" by itself (not severance policy, just the word severance) one of the links returned is the ERISA Sev Plan PDF from December 2020.
Basics... 3 mos of COBRA plus:
Below Vice President / Below Principal Engineer Level: Each eligible employee in a job grade of 20 or below is eligible to receive a lump sum severance payment equal to:
two (2) months of base salary, if he or she is not required to work for the entirety of the Notice Period; or
four (4) months of base salary, if he or she is required to work for the entirety of the
Notice Period.
Vice President and Above / Principal Engineer and Above: Each eligible employee at or above the job grade of Principal Engineer (job grade ≥ 21), or Vice President (job grade ≥ 22) is eligible to receive a lump sum severance payment equal to:
four (4) months of base salary, if he or she is not required to work for the entirety of theNotice Period; or
six (6) months of base salary, if he or she is required to work for the entirety of the
Notice Period.
Plus 1 week per FULL year of service w/ no pro-ration for a partial year.
So for those planning. Here you go. AVGO must honor the vmw plan for severance. But I would not expect anything more or less. Don't bank on the date, your RSU's etc. Assume worst case and plan for your finances... No one else will.
