Thread regarding Wayfair Inc. layoffs

Is this true?

US layoffs will go out Jan 24th, mainly customer service and ticket teams as they have been outsourced.

Can anybody confirm or deny this? I'm a nervous wreck as it is, I really don't want to get additionally stressed out if it's just somebody's idea of trolling.

With this being the supposed layoff day, surprised no one was freaking out and making a ton of “it’s going to happen” comments

From what I understand, this all hands on meeting will be almost like a large luncheon gathering. Everyone will have their snacks and with all these people around, who would want to cause a scene. This is when they will tell us all that we have decided to change all metrics once again, thus lessening our opportunities for any bonus. It is the only way that they can maximize their "profits", as they will describe them as losses. We will all rejoice in keeping our jobs, while dying on the inside knowing that they have made our jobs exponentially harder. Serenity NOW!!!

So this is fear mongering, the advice to brush up your resume and look for another job is sound and something many of us have been doing for years. However, if you are a former employee and don’t have any way to know for sure a layoff is happening, constantly posting dates and saying it will for sure happen is toxic and doesn’t help anyone.

Is the ceo toxic and made a sh-t environmental, yes, is people crying wolf constantly also toxic, yes

Let's face it WAYFAIR is drowning in debt and they will do anything to downsize the company to save money. I'm a former employee that had enough of their bs and I was done feeling like I had to meet certain metrics to kiss management's a-s. When I worked there I felt like we were always "walking on egg shells " and made to feel inferior. I hated working there and I decided that I wasn't going to take that abuse from them. company. The RIF is just another one of Niraj and teams way of saving their own a-s. I believe it's going to happen in NA. Upper management thinks they're so smart....but look at the way they're treating employees. Brush up on your resume...time to RUN!!!

7:52 est and no mass email in NA

I would think any more EU riff would have happened at same time as Germany news, especially since it says some are getting relocation offers to other parts of EU, we probably need to wait until 7:45 am EST to see if NA will have one

EU here. No RIF email this morning. In both Jan 23 and Jan 24 they had been emailed at 7:45am.

Historically they post it day of, and then keep those affected “on payroll, but not working” for 60 days before layoff kicks in

If there were a layoff - when would they be required to post it as a WARN report? Is it before the layoff would happen? I am genuinely curious how last years RIF was a surprise but a WARN report existed - was it posted after the layoff?

Why would they do 2 RIFs if they offered relocation packages to some people? They can't afford to lose many more. While some work has been offshore, not all the work has been.

To the last poster, what “doesn’t help” is promoting the idea that jobs are safe at a company like Wayfair. Reading through the comments here a few weeks ago, people said “there’s no layoffs” then they laid off everyone in a country.

A layoff whether large or small could happen at any point. People should be prepared for it.

Yes the executives su-k and have caused a toxic environment, but just saying “there is a layoff on this date” without details or proof isn’t helping your peers, it makes it worse for us.

The fear mongers are the individuals in executive positions at this company who keep getting rid of employees’ jobs! Gotta love the amount of anger directed at other employees for “making people feel scared” by talking about potential layoffs instead of at so-called “leadership” for their actions and lengthy history of disrespect for all employees.

And where are you getting that info, are you a higher leader in the know or just fear mongering

They are doing a RIF end of January, and customer service will be impacted, start looking for other roles outside of customer service.

They most certainly can do two separate layoffs. Companies like Macys, etc. will say “We’re closing this many stores” then add more to the list a few weeks later. PR is one thing but the financials are quite another.

The best thing to do is take control. They are on a downward spiral and while your working look for a new opportunity. I know it’s hard to think of leaving but trust me you can find a better environment where you’re not worried looking over your shoulder.

Keep an eye out for other opportunities but I honestly don’t think they’d do 2 big rifs split up. Honestly the writing for this one was on the wall when the COO left imo. Germany was costing the company big bucks and I’m convinced he was the only reason why this didn’t happen earlier

WF runs on debt, layoffs are attractive to investors.

There won't be anything in NA this time around. Also, they wouldn't do two separate ones as from PR perspective would look horrible. Today was the day.

You should be nervous start looking for new jobs. Even if it doesn’t happen on the 01/24 you’re always at risk.

My advice is try not to think about it, even if someone can confirm it, what will that do for you? Nothing.

I have no details but my guess is we wouldn’t have one in NA or it would have been done today. These impact the stock and public image of the company so they try to do them all at once.
