Thread regarding Saudi Aramco layoffs

What do potential job applicants think of Aramco?

I’m considering applying to Aramco job postings but now second-guessing myself.

Aramco consistently advertises an array of job opportunities, painting an attractive picture of growth and career advancement. Yet, why should anyone apply when its track record of mistreating expats tells a completely different story? From unfulfilled promises and subpar support to a lack of respect for international employees, it seems the glossy job postings are nothing more than a façade hiding the reality of poor treatment. Is that really the kind of workplace anyone aspires to join?

What do other potential job applicants think?

To the quality new hires that have replaced those of lower capability, it’s a fantastic experience and privilege to work for the preeminent world’s largest energy company.

To me it sounds like a toxic version of the hunger games.

As an expat, Aramco provides no training, no opportunity for advancement and no opportunity to get experience in other depqrtments. Saudis get all these opportunities just because they are locals. All expats are treated as second class and Saudis don't respect you. The recruitment ads and HR don't tell you this during recruitment process. They sell the company as tecnucally advanced and a wonderful employer. Far from the truth.

Aramco is a completely different company from what it was 10-15 years ago. I liked working there, we liked living there. We did our few years, packed, cashed out, and went home. That was just when layoffs were starting, just when housing and food services were getting taken over and ruined by local contractors, just when medical was outsourced to the third world, and before COVID.
Today? I wouldn’t touch this company. Too toxic, too uncertain, and way too much “us against them” mentality.

Lots of trolls on this site with juvenile postings. They are only proving the points that they are trying to suppress. I just hope that everyone can see through these. Beware those seeking honest feedback.

Almost all the ads are for positions that aren’t even open much less being actively recruited for. Departments have KPIs to meet and this ticks various boxes so management are happy and everyone gets a promotion.

There is still a hiring freeze in place on my part of the company.

You’d be crazy to join at present as an expat with the way things are going.

Good luck!

Ignore all the local imbecilic comments about chuck e cheese, poops, Barney et al. People can’t handle the truth that their once great company is being pillaged by arrogant, selfish locals.

What an immature & unhelpful response to what may have been a genuine concern. I hope it does not reflect the Company
