Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Getting that much deserved promotion

I gave up. it's easier to make an effort and get a job somewhere else where I will eventually get a promotion, than to make double efforts here in vain. I'm interested in whether there is anyone here who deservedly received a promotion, that is, thanks to their commitment and value alone, and not because they are buddies with the manager?

I have a strong feeling the biggest crybabies are the same people who have nothing to offer and have the smallest workloads when we are in the office. Going back to the office only exposes them, especially in the "open seating" fishbowl. They have no other options so they aren't going anywhere.

Give it time and wait it out. With all the spoiled people that are gonna throw a hissy fit like a 3 year old that doesn’t get that candy bar once RTO happens, there will be plenty of promotions available.

I worked very hard for quite a while at GM. This includes long hours, weekends, holidays. My manager actually talked me out of what would have been a promotion in a different part of the company. I ended up turning down a promotion where I was to get away from my manager’s buddies who created a toxic work environment for me. I moved to a different position at a different location and was laid-off in less than a year. It was nothing but pain only to be thrown out and implicitly degraded by that permanent stain on my resume. Saying it was a waste of time would be sugar coating it. Some of the most horrible people I ever worked with are engineers at General Motors.
