With all the talk about RSU awards and RSU vesting, are vmware giving them away like the packs of M&S's in the break room? I ask because I never received any when I started vmware and have never been given any ongoing, other than the 21 or so that Pat gave everyone a few years back. Do you have to be at a minumum level to get them?

It's their company. Not yours. They can give a million RSUS to one employee or none or whatever they want really. They can even sell it to a sh---y company like broadcom for shallow and short term profit, to the detriment of thousand of workers, so as----e billionaires like MDell can grab yet another heap of money.
You don’t get them if you are sh-t at your job.
RSUs and management of them are corrupt in the company. No one knows how the allocation works. It’s all inside job. Wish this cr-p was investigated for real.
I'm the OP. Not in R&D so perhaps this is the reason why.
RSUs aren't given to everyone. it's part of the total comp when negotiating.
If you are an HR new employee right out of college, it was probably not part of your comp package.
In engineering it very standard to have some RSUs and get "topped off" w/ new ones after a year two. Its part of your comp package.
The vast majority of people got a vesting schedule of a certain amount of RSUs over 4 years. Then you can also get refreshers (but seems rare)
