Thread regarding Occidental Petroleum Corp. layoffs

Colorado changes

Were the Colorado people who were let go this week eligible for COC until only 2 months ago? Or part of a different org?

In every merger I've been thru there are the winners (eaters) and the acquired (eaten)... Some eaters get on board early and treat the eaten as equals, the rest treat eaten as less than equal. This translates into the executive, management and team structures ... when house cleaning eventually happens the eaten are shed. When my company was acquired by Amoco, they promised the government that they would be no layoffs for one year... They held to that... and then they wholesale cleaned out the eaten. Always better to be an eater than the eaten.

Agree. The company needs to clean house at all levels and then build back up with quality people.

the question was did Oxy wait 3 years to let those LAPC go in order to avoid COC, and then let them go right after the protection expired. Hoping that wasn’t the case.

At this point it does not matter if LAPC unless they never bought into Oxy and were just not working out. Believe me there are plenty of LOXY that still need to go and it would make us a better company. I would rather work harder than have low performers taking advantage of Oxy. It still amazes me corporate America puts up we the low performers. Hope this goes company wide if they clean out the ones that need to go.

I thought they were all part of WES. I’m not sure how the transition from APC to WES impacted their CoC. Interesting they were all LAPC…

Why is the company letting employees go in Colorado? Business should still be good. Or are they playing political games with the state over taxation and environmental issues.
