Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Post predictions please from those in the know.

I am starting this thread to find out what people know about the upcoming changes. Please do not post if you don't know. Specifically these topics below would be most helpful. I know there are employees with a conscious that are not towing the line. Thanks to all the people that had the courage to let us know the changes beforehand. You are the heroes of this company and fight against the wrongs. I only ask this to help employees make decisions weather to stay or leave. It is harder to find employment after 50 years of age than younger unless you have in demand skills or specific skills. Good luck to all on this rollercoaster. Also timeline of the changes would help.

TOPICS of concern
Pension future and possible grandfathering or not for current employees.
Future of EMTEC Houston labs and Clinton labs.
Outsourcing to low cost countries more BTC.
401K changes and health benefits during employment and retirement
Retirement benefits changes.
feel free to add anything that will help younger employees and those nearer to retirement age.
Again the writing is on the wall and anything is possible.

We have been implementing the Jack Welsh Playbook for the last few years. For General Motors, the Welsh strategy was a disaster five years after implementation.

Winning
by Jack Welch, Suzy Welch
A champion manager of people, Jack Welch shares the hard-earned wisdom of a storied career in what will become the ultimate business bible

With Winning, Jack Welch delivers a wide-ranging, in-depth, no-holds-barred management guidebook about the tough strategic, organizational, and personal challenges that face people at every stage of their careers. Loaded with candid personal anecdotes, hard-hitting advice, and invaluable dos and don’ts, Jack explains his theory of business, by laying out the four most important principles that form the foundation of his success.

Chapters include How to Get Promoted, How to Think about Strategy, How to Write a Budget that Works, How to Work for a Jerk, How Find Work-Life Balance and How Start Something New. Enlivened by quotes from business leaders that Welch interviewed especially for the book, it’s a tour de force that reflects Welch’s mastery of execution, excellence and leadership. (less)

The management is smart. They hear our complaints, they see the attrition, they read Bloomberg. Do you really think they would do nothing if a true problem existed? What You have to understand the attrition is intended. It is what they want to reduce headcount. It simply makes for easier news than an article about layoffs.

I follow this board and mostly lurk too. Honestly a lot of things have been posted here that have been accurate. There's been useful info on raises, stripping then reinstating the 401k match, we3, 3% one time payment, PIP quotas... The list goes on.

Also while this site certainly skews heavily toward the cynical and there are a lot of shitposts, if you think it's not indicative of EM's actual environment, then I recommend checking out Glassdoor, or Indeed, or LinkedIn, or that recent article published by Bloomberg, or looking at the results of the EMTEC sentiment survey, or reading the slido questions at town halls when they aren't being suppressed, or just talking to 3 or more of your colleagues who aren't in management.

I never post, only read, but this warrants a response. No one who is trolling sites like this actually knows anything other than how to cry at an ice cream social or making up BS. That’s why it’s full of low performers and transitional employees who can’t or won’t cut it. OP, you’re looking at the wrong metrics here. Stop working from home, go to work, meet, talk to, understand and respect your group, you’ll learn way more than attempting something on a falling star message board. Enjoy your afternoon.

Happened with other companies and it will eventually happen here.

No pension for new employees and sun setting of benefits for existing employees.

One thing is clear. Compensation and benefits continue to be reduced year over year at this company. There are no indications this willl stop. The future is depending on taxpayer handouts to capture carbon. Taxpayers aren’t going to want to provide generous benefits and compensation. Leave. The party is over.

Nationalized in the US 2023.
Shareholder payout pennies on the dollar.
But all debts and liabilities written off. The best part.
