Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Sitting here in this old shanty

19 yrs. ago a young man proud to be part of the railroad family. Waiting to get called from the yard master. Watching tv for almost the entire shift. Like I'm doing on this very slow saturday. We bbqd everyday. More than hot dogs. We did brisket, etc. Today, I lock the shanty door. Just in case I'm sleeping. It's busy out here. Bo a bunch of cars. The rip guys have a job. I have a job. Its no fun anymore. Everyones out to get each other. Seniority really doesn't mean squat. Still sh---y hours terrible days off. One good thing is i usually take a few months off every year. Medical, at my age gout, hbp, borderline diabetic, weight problem. The rtw is getting harder. My Dr. is furious how UP treats their employees. I can pretty sure retire soon with my medical condition UP caused. I have PTSD from the stress is now a legal issue. Yea, I'm still working. Manager's have it in for me, but I know they steal gas, etc. So they leave me alone

I want to bid on that 19 year old job.
Sleep all day and BBQ and watch TV like at the old SP yards I used to work at and had lots of cold brews supplied by our consignee as a thank you for taking care of us.

If there's any manager that's not out to get somebody, then they're probably not a UP employee. Every manager at the UP has some sort of issue with one or several employees. This should be painfully obvious to everyone at the UP. I quit because I couldn't trust the managers anymore. I've turned in a few of them for lying and harassment, and yet they were allowed to keep their jobs. Other folks were terminated for taking the safest course, or "stopping the line" when necessary. Those managers then wrote those employees up for their favorite rule of insubordination and were terminated. I guess being a liar and a pain in the a55 is a requirement for management. Yet the executives are still confused why employment is down.
