Dependency on Taxpayer handouts

Is it wise to create an entire business line that is dependent on taxpayer handouts? Someone needs to do a risk assessment on LCS. What is going to happen when taxpayers are paying billions of dollars in subsidies to us for LCS and there is a recession or tax increases? Does anyone think sanctity of contract applies to legislation? This is destined to not end well.

It is not wise to build a business model that depends on handouts. It also won’t be profitable or differentiating. Go woke and go broke. Let the market dictate value not politicians.

If not for oil and gas industry, there would be no highway system. Ride in a horse drawn wagon to a coal powered train.

Oil and gas industry making you travel, food production, medicines, plastics, tires, and major components for electric car batteries possible.

Be thankful

Taking Tax money from schools has to be an ultimate low.

Lol. It’s funny how people are so ignorant about history. Did Oil and Gas companies build our federal highway transportation network? How lucky they are, the taxpayer gave them a place to build their gas stations!

It takes a very special bias to correct snider oil subsidized.

The government gets much more in taxes throughout the oil industry than it gives in tax breaks.

Cannot say same for electric cars, Solar and wind, or LCS.

The entire enterprise has been subsidized by taxpayers since Day One.
Most major wars fought for Rockefeller and Cos.
Spring will soon get breaks for number of seats filled - if there is a mouse on the desk, it is filled.
On and on.
A tapeworm.

It doesn’t seem to be stopping the entire solar or wind industry

Oil and gas not subsidized.

Please tell xplain how oil and gas subsidized.

Wind, solar, LCS, electric cars, charging stations etc subsidized heavily to artificially make them viable.

Oil and gas industry viable without subsidies. Actually oil and gas products heavily taxed, especially in Europe to both raise tax money and also to discourage increased use.

It’s not a good idea for government to continue to hand out money like there is no tomorrow. This puts an enormous tax burden on our children. Sacrificing the future for short term gains.

Another one https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2022/10/09/carbon-capture-oil-gas/

How long until the music stops? My guess is once we build a couple and the cost to taxpayers becomes evident the policy will change.

Climate activists already starting to point this out https://climatechangenews.com/2022/05/05/amid-record-profits-tar-sands-companies-ask-for-more-subsidies-for-carbon-capture

Definitely not wise. Taxpayer behavior doesn’t match the retórica behind the “climate emergency” as no one is changing behavior or wants to pay more for energy. This is likely to end with us holding the bag and not getting the subsidies.
