Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

I'm so tired of unrealistic deadlines

I wish I could trade places with my manager just for one day, just so he can see how unreasonable his expectations are. I'm guaranteeing you he'd walk out halfway through. I'm not sure if this is just my problem or if it's company-wide, but it's certainly making me hate my job more and more.

The words 'managers' and 'Avaya' should be mutually exclusive. Avaya wouldn't be in this mess (again) if there was effective and accountable management. Even if Avaya avoid a second Ch11, I'm sceptical they can remain innovate and relevant and move on from this latest fiasco. Past attempts to reform the business have been pitifully too little and tragically way too late. A shocking example of how to run what could have a been a great company into the ground.

That advise is brilliant! Truly. Yet it assumes mature, well balanced and competent managers. You clearly have not kept pace with Avaya as of late. Avaya breeds small minded, not competent managers. It's their speciality. To survive in Avayas dysfunction, one must be manipulative, cunning and superiorly ethically compromised.

When you receive any assignment, it's incumbent on you to review the assignment and determine how much time it will take and any additional required resources. If you see an issue with the allotted time, then you need to let your manager know immediately, so that you can get additional help and or revise expectations. At the end of the day, you are a professional and should be a subject matter expert in your respective field.

Your life will be easier if you employ the above suggestions. If the above does not work out, seek new employment.

This is why management gets very scared when someone leaves the company, retires or asked to be moved to another group in Avaya. They are very scared they can not find another replacement, their is no back fill approved or they would have to do some of your job responsibilities which they have no idea how to do. That's why many of the management has 20-30 plus years, they know they do not have the skill set to work at a real company.

Worker: "Hey boss I am having trouble because documentation is not clear or not available at all, can I get some help from you on this"

Manager: "Is there someone else you can ask that knows this stuff"

Worker: "There was but they were all laid off...."

Look for a new job while you still have a paycheck - you will be much happier in the end

Chances are your manager couldn't even do your job, as there's very few real player/managers at Avaya, only imposters.

You are not alone. It's a company wide issue.
