Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Layoffs are the answer to everything

Company has had a thirty year love affair with layoffs

I haven't heard Xerox's dependence on layoffs put better than this. For decades, the only thing the management knew how to do was implement layoffs. Instead of making sure that we stay up with the times, they would opt to reduce the number of employees to show improvement in numbers. This was done again and again and this is what brought us to this point where Xerox is outdated, outmatched by competitors, and on its way out.

They did away with voluntarys a long time ago. They aren’t going back. It costs too much money. And at this point they can’t offer much more than 2 weeks severance. There is no cash left.

I’m not in any way trying to defend layoffs but if you take them personally or think that it’s some exclusive behavior to xerox execs you’re going to hate to find out how the corporate world as a whole works. You’re only ever as good as your next quarter. That’s how we all work now. Xerox today, someone else tomorrow. Pick a boat that’s not sinking until you can retire.

Can someone please increase the dividend? Double should suffice.

I hear they are looking at voluntary staff reduction programs - problem is everyone would be interested in critical groups. But, in future HR wants to do targeted voluntary programs I was told. This could be better more humane way forward.

They've never been big on trimming the fat, like to countless VP's that offer little or no value. Extremely bloated company on the management side, still.
