Thread regarding General Atomics layoffs

To be fair, GA is still a great place for some

GA is okay if you go there for the right reasons. I will say that GA is a horrible place to start a career. One will only gain bad habits, work with outdated processes and obtain a bad work ethic. But if you are at the end of your career and just looking to coast… work a 9 to 5 or even a 10 to 2 …. GA can be a great place for you. GA really doesn’t care about bottom line which is bad if you are looking to advance your career on merit… but good if you are looking to coast to the finish line… so it all depends on where you are in your career and how motivated you are to make a difference at a company or just coast.

Excellent observation, @kpf+1jW24xkR

GA is my first job and I love it! Work load is low, expectations aren’t high and my department has literally never finished one project in budget nor on time and GA still gives me and everyone in my department ever year. It’s true that GA does not pay well if you factor in a 40 hr work week but no one in my department ever works 40 hrs! I would say GA is a great place to start a career.. it will allow a young person to make mistakes an learn from mistakes where other companies won’t tolerate certain mistakes or laziness… GA will accept all faults and not just focus on bottom line! GA takes gender, race, se-ual orientation and other factors into consideration when giving raises and protections… and I am thankful I work for a company where performance is not the only thing that is counted or evaluated

This a a great post haven’t seen it before! It sad that young people have no idea how damaging GA is to their career. But in all fairness GA doesn’t recruit the best young talent to begin with
