Part of our GF F8 toxicity is actually the people that work here. Integration or manufacturing, all are important. But calling people out like this in the comments below is kinda of sad to see. Let’s just continue sh-----g on each other.
I thought it takes a village to make a semiconductor, maybe our technology is sh-t but don’t we have to work together? If you hate it here (I do and will be leaving) leave, if our tech sucks leave. If our manufacturing sucks leave. But don’t just sh-t on people because your coffee is too hot and you’re waiting for it to cool down.

And if 12RF was so great, why did your director behind it - go back to M**, and another PMTS RF device guy left? Didn't they want to see Fab8 fill with RF from 2024 to 2030 like you? Or they were smarter and luckier than you? R&D is better than tweaking dual sourced products.

Yes I am short-sighted. $tupid people like you are worrying about how to fill fab8 in 2024-2030, while those at the top are already plotting when to encash their millions in stock, and move on to the next company. Welcome to stock market and greedy management that cares only about share price, and next quarter results, your barely 1 learning cycle - this was not taught in your engineering class. Yes, you can call me short-sighted, but how can you convince DR and finance people who make investment decisions and R&D budgets with your track record? That QTI 12RF....wasn't that mostly PDK/modeling for QTI? and no Si development? If it's so great, why isn't GF pushing it instead of 22FDX and 45RF for RF? And funny thing is in spite of the extra 2-3 year lifeline you mentioned, nothing new has come out. How many times you will keep complaining of low budget and come out with nothing? You better pray you get accepted by IBM when you wake up (Intel PTD is little tough...).

@1ehr+1jYMj72m you're an id--t and feed into the short-sighted mentality in Fab8 that is only focused on production revenue wafers and sacrifice the future. Its already so difficult doing R&D in Fab8, and keeps getting worse and worse.
You want an example? Take a look at all the high volume QTI 12RF running in the fab right now. That RF addon to 12LP was developed by the derivatives R&D team in Fab8.
Maybe when this fab is at 50% utilization, the MFG blockheads (yourself included) will care about R&D again. The only reason Fab8 isn't in that situation now is the pandemic, which gave 14LPP an extra 2-3yr lifeline. Look out for 2024-2030 and there is a major problem brewing of how we will fill the finfet corridor. You better pray the R&D teams are successful so you have something to run and have a job in 5 years here.
Go back to pushing wafers like the ape you are

It is clear you have no clue what any of the R&D groups (yes, there is more than one) do and especially what they have done for fab8, other fabs and the company as a whole.
They are our co-workers, perhaps it's worth respecting that they have a job to do with the same budget limits that we all face.
Yes they either try to create derivatives of same base 12LP technology, sometimes with some partners; or, try to transfer and tweak older node processes. And they have failed to land any big design wins so far. Isn't all Fab8 revenue still generated by base technology? Feel free to write one accomplishment of Malta R&D team.

It should be cut before layoffs to save $$. Also there are internal people including at least a director in Malta and her team whose job is to monitor that outsourced R&D.

GF keeps spending millions on outsourced R&D with imec and academia (and interestingly calls this activity GF Labs) which has all been a waste all these years. ROI has been zero. It should be the first thing to cut.
