Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Corvette to launch as a brand

General Motors' Corvette has always lived under the Chevrolet brand, but that could be changing if a report from Car and Driver is to be believed. According to that story, Corvette will be launching as its own brand with its own products in 2025. All of them—the traditional two-door, a sedan, and an SUV—will reportedly be electric. None of this has been officially confirmed by General Motors.

I know the topic isn't about layoffs, but if this turns out to be true, then it's sad. Any thoughts?

Another way to get more money to please shareholders and enrich executives while providing little to no added value to the customer.

It's supposed to be like Porsche where people pay way more for a dressed up version of some other car. Another way to get more money to please the shareholders.

There probably won't be a BEV Corvette. The boomer customer base are still longing for their flip-phones. They won't move past the dinosaur ICE technology.

Corvette is low volume and will not sustain a brand at 30k annual units. It's mainly purchased by boomer males trying to relive their youth.
