Years ago a friend of mine figured out a way to automate her job and that of several others. Instead of being rewarded by the company with a promotion and the opportunity to improve the company's bottom line in another role, NCR fired her. This is the typical upper level management response that has led NCR to where it is today.
What part of the company were you laid off from?
If you are worth anything and have the slightest confidence in your skill, you will get rehired.
If you don't and you got laid off, you deserve it.
