Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

Just waiting

Remember how TC’s video said they respected the people feeling the stress of uncertainty and would make the moves as quick as possible? I’m sick of waiting, and will be surprised if TC feels safe in a room of 300 people to give out more bad news on Thursday. Whose id--tic idea was this communication a month before any actions? How much longer do we get to twist in the wind?

Thanks Tom for rewarding our hard work and spoiling our holiday season.

In past gf didn’t give advanced noticed where you stay on site. I think if not today will be in 2 weeks because of next Tuesday/Wednesday wouldn’t get all five shifts as c shift won’t be until thursday. 7th and 8th would leave out B shift

I agree that starting tomorrow would be id--tic, and would assume if it isn’t today/tomorrow that it’ll be 7th and 8th. I haven’t seen or heard any sign of layoffs at F8 this morning.

That said, it wouldn’t be the first id--tic thing GF has done this year.

Someone said they think advance notice would be given so people can wrap up projects, but I can’t imagine that makes sense to anyone in HR- too many critical systems/docs to let people have access to after you’ve told them.

If tomorrow that implies NOBODY on A or B shift is getting laid off which makes no sense

I bet big money the hammer comes down tomorrow. Why would they mix people in the global cast that are getting payed off? Seems too d-mb

I prefer Tom would put money where his mouth is.

  1. CEO "entitled" for ~1% of IPO package, with current GloFo Cap accounts for some $350M. SLT are getting their sizable packages too.
  2. How about Tom to pay his fare share of the announced $200M savings target? TC and SLT should be kept accountable for the outcome of their management.
  3. There're precedents, e.g. Chrysler CEO Lee Iacocca is credited with pioneering the $1 a year salary and saving the Company,

  1. but it'd be too much to ask from Tom. " There will be no MORE Layoff" - he's credited with.

Which do you prefer: leaks trickling down and the rumor mill spinning on the down low, or Tom & team presenting the topic head on and start the rumor mill spinning in the open.

I prefer the latter.
