My impression is that the leadership here is arrogant and doesn't even care about building trust with its employees. There are too many reasons why almost no one here trusts them anymore, which seriously hinders organizational success.

This thread is about the bad managers at GM, not the racists at GM.
I didn't read the previous post can someone summarize it
It's just a transactional relationship. When it stops being profitable for either side, they discard the other. At least that's how it use to be for many decades. You at least knew what you were getting into.
Today, the workplace invites in people that can't bring talent, but they can bring in their unicorn status under the banner of diversity. The corporation, thinking they're somehow cutting edge, elevates these people through the ranks, and then magically things really start breaking, and quickly. What people use to dislike management for prior, has since evolved into something much more, to the point where quiet quitting is really the only tool left for those tired of the BS. It's the underhanded and undermining of the entire operation, because you never know which of your employees have joined those ranks. It is an increasingly growing movement among workplaces across the world.
If a company wanted to be impartial, true, and actually grab talent fairly, they would place ALL potential hires into a room without windows, and interview using a voice muffling device. It's impartial, indifferent, and it provides to you fairness for all. You either make the cut, or you get cut. No more job offers based upon who has the best green or blue hair, or how diverse you are feeling today, or whether you need a safe place depending upon your emotions for the day. Once an apple starts rotting out from within it's core, that apple is done and over with in time.
The reason people don't trust leadership isn't solely one single thing. It's an evolution of everything in multiple doses, that eventually leads to the lowest common denominator. Social perversion brings perverted leadership. It brings about woke culture and woke corporations, and in the end, it always alienates people regardless of it's intent. Only, through that woke action, it often brings financial ruin to the corporate entity in enough time.
Management in corporations are governed by corporate policies and "culture". I have been a 2 time manager terminated because I had the courage to do the right thing and called out for being not the right "fit". When leaders fight for what's "fair", they stop advancing in their career. Make what you can from this statement. My best managers also saw untimely speed bumps in their careers.
Leaders are pathological liars. Lie just for the sport of it when it is not necessary. They play games and toy with people. I assume this is for their own sick entertainment.
I was bullied for years at General Motors. Managers aided and abetted this behavior. The culture allowed it. If bringing this to light makes me a bad person then so be it.
Some serious negative energy here lately. Trolls gonna troll.
That negative energy is really bad karma so be careful.
Anyone talking out of context of the main topic is very likely a hater or a troll.
Out of spec? Attitudes like this are why GM fails and will continue to fail. Nobody wants to be the one labeled and demeaned by some sociopath. There are a lot of people like this at GM and they get away with it because they are, or are friends with, managers.
It's the reason they aren't breaking any barriers. It's the reason they're braking things and falling outside of spec. Because out of specs, are never within tolerance. This goes for the parts within our machinery, and automobiles, and the qualifications of those people who create your automobile.
Waa-man.
Don't be surprised by get woke, go broke. Diversity isn't your strength, it's your weakest link.
What do we do with the out of specs? We recycle them. We re-melt them. We rework them, and we discard them.
At GM, and all the other woke culture organizations, we defy engineering standards, and place them on pedastals. We celebrate the weakest links of any organization.
Auto industry leadership has lost itself in the deep end. I am glad I am out of the industry.
Quickest way to destroy trust is by lying. Leaders need to
Be upfront with both the good and bad to earn employees trust and respect.
Management at WTC works for the UAW.
Are you talking about all of the leadership?
The manager you report to?
I don’t know what you are expecting.
Upper management exists to maximize shareholder returns. They are not there to make you happy. You are a worker and they sign your check.
You only need to be concerned with your own deliverables and how they meet the needs of the internal customers. Why get wrapped up in the rhetoric of what is being said externally?
If problems exist and profits aren’t meeting expectations, only then do you have a concern. GM isn’t there yet but look out for issues next year due to higher interest rates.
We can all use this time to enhance our skills and position ourselves for success.
