why is mining 3 not raising its pay to pay employees the market rate, been with the company for over 10 years and corporate policy is changing for the worse, we are doing things the wrong way a lot more now and good folks are leaving and being replaced with inferior bodies, knowledge is power and it is drifting away, we all know innovation was what built us , but now STEM employees are going elsewhere as what we pay is way below other top STEM corps

It looks like you’re still employed, you should thankful. I was let go. It had nothing to do with performance. I created a lot of value
for the company. 3M is going through a hard times and must make business decisions to save itself. I wish all the best to my whole team and clients I supported.
You can stay with the company and make the best of it or find something better and move on.
I will admit, 3M does not value it’s employees unless you are a job grade 15 or higher. More compensation is not going to fix this. More inclusivity training is not going to fix this. More diversity is not going to fix this. Also the reputation of 3M being a stable place to work is diminished. All you can do is take care of each other at 3M and take one day at a time.

Your comments are outrageous and incendiary. Frankly, I doubt the veracity of your outburst.
What is your function? Are you in one of those senior manager/director roles without any direct reports? I will say 3M seems to have an abundance of these roles with LVS and EO orgs and many of these people from what I see are not remotely worth $200K+, so I could see plenty of people in these roles not being able to match pay externally. I think we’ll see more and more of these project management jobs go by the wayside with tire man in charge.
Not everyone is underpaid at 3M. I am overpaid… the industry average for my position is about 60k less than what I make. I have had about 12 interviews recently and only 1 was willing to pay the same… but I would have direct reports which I do not at 3M. I don’t have a 3M pension but the pay prevents me from leaving….
It’s sad, the facility I’m at used to be 2nd highest paying plant in the area.. Now we are one of the lowest paid and anyone hired since 2012 doesn’t have a pension. They’ve even cut 401k match.
10 years ago we would take applications once a year and have thousands of applications.
Now operators are not required to take any aptitude test or even come in for an interview. It’s all done over the phone remotely.
They have even resorted to remove the employees benefits, like service dinners, new born gifts, etc…. What a t.w.a.t.
Each time I come here I learn more and more revelations about this firm. I am absolutely flabbergasted. 🤬
Roman’s consigliere Patolawala spearheads the FUN (Foot Upon Neck) initiative whereby wages are kept low resulting in the voluntary separation of employees, thus 3M foregoes the need to eliminate and pay severance. The FUN savings are utilized by the consigliere to provide out of cycle payments to the ruling class - - performance enhancements.
3M brainwashing is a real thing. I left a few years ago, but I was always astounded at how many unhappy people in their 20s and 30s were afraid to look for jobs outside the company. If you don’t have a pension there is zero reason to stick around. Anybody remotely competent should be able to find jobs elsewhere making at least the same amount and same benefits, without the toxicity. I thought 3M was toxic in 2019, so I can’t imagine what it’s like now.
3M has, for many years, subscribed to the analogy of the frog that starts in cold water on the stove, only to have the heat ratcheted up bit by bit until the frog is boiling but doesn't know it.
This company started underpaying during the great recession and decided to get wages depressed below the industry median because employees have been brainwashed into thinking 3M is a great place to work. It used to be in the 1980s and even 1990s.
GE guy mcnerney destroyed the culture and it's never recovered. Mike is an invisible CEO who is only paid to look good. He's not even a good speaker. GE guy monish is the real man behind the curtain and is shuffling his way off to be ceo of the health spin.
Note to boiling frogs. Jump out of the water before you turn into frog legs.
the bottom feeders, i.e., us the bees of the company are paid a pityful wage, we are making the profits for the company through doing several jobs and managing waste and doing stupid weekly hours so the management can sp--k it on white elephants that they don't need to be accountable for, start taking ownership of your mistakes and this starts at the ceos door,, start paying the production workers a decent wage , 2023 will see mass walkouts due to pathetic wage increases while the big wigs upstairs walk out with millions, sort it out
