Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Leaving before the end of the year

I've finally managed to get a nice offer and if things go as planned, I'll start the new year with a new job. I didn't always dislike my job at 3M, but the company has shifted its priorities drastically recently and I don't like what we've turned into. Don't even get me started on all the lawsuits. I'll be happy to be gone, let's leave it at that.

Re: senior vps are meeting with Mark Murphy this week in TTS to display the carnage. If the cuts are not found within the contracting and software licensing space, internal full time 3M employees are out the door.

Lots of contractors working on ERP deployments/support, correct? This should be interesting. Not in a good way. I foresee 3M grinding to a gnarly halt in the aftermath. There's going to be no one left!

The downward spiral 🌀 continues. 3M is fricasséed. Chapter 11 is a distinct possibility.

senior vps are meeting with Mark Murphy this week in TTS to display the carnage. If the cuts are not found within the contracting and software licensing space, internal full time 3M employees are out the door. If this happens, somebody should own the fact we just cut people at the beginning of September. Is 3M leadership so short sighted and so blind to market data they cannot plan more than 3 months at a time?

Very roughly $350M should mean between 1,000 and 2,000 people. Employees and contractors combined.

I can't confirm the cut, but if true that is roughly the staffing impact.

What will the TTS body count be with a 350 million cut to the budget? Any guesses?

You obviously need to calm down. If someone wants to leave the company, regardless of when or why, you should support them rather than attack them. We have enough shade in this world - we don’t need any here.

To the poster of: Leaving before the end of the year, you epitome the decline of 3M into a quiet quitters paradise.

May I suggest some proofreading before hitting submit? Also, it's "losers" not "loosers".

Leaving before the end of the year, you epitome the decline of 3M into a quiet quitters paradise. Work or get fired guy was right about all of you loosers. Good riddance and you'll be hoping for a job back in 3M in 12 months or less.

Well, TTS is hacking about 350 million out of its 2023 budget. You should have taken the job because more cuts are coming in 2023.

I got an offer too but it is in tech company. As new hires are in the chopping block I'll wait and see how recession pan out. If it is mild recession then I'll apply again in next year. I may me foolish to turn down offer but most impotantly I know my value now. 3M always paid less than market value during these years.

Congratulations 🍾 on your new opportunity. Take with you the good things and leave the baggage at the door (literal or figurative) as you exit. Peace and blessings to you. ✌️🕊☮️
