I try to think positively but I am aware that it will not be easy to find a job at 50+. How to get a good job at this age now?

I am not part of HR. I am a past WD employee that had several friends affected by the recent layoff. I saw some of the previous negative posts and wanted to encourage the 50+ folks/remind them that they have tons of value (coming from a millennial).
Lastly, to all affected by the layoff I wish you a quick bounce back and hope you enjoy the time with your loved ones this holiday season.
Regarding above post...... Thank you HR for this scripted response. Nice try to keep us positive!
First, I am sorry that you were impacted by the layoff. It is never easy to lose your job and wish you a fast bounce back.
That said, do not limit yourself based on your age. You have gained tons of knowledge and skills over your career so do not sell yourself short.
Also, having worked at WD I know the stress and environment that you have been working in. I can tell you with full confidence that there are tons of opportunities out there that are much better.

I empathize with you. Please take the time to review your resume and apply for positions using LinkedIn and other job sites. Hopefully the job market will pick up after the holidays. I’ll advise you to never give up hope. All the very best to you!
This is a waste of keystrokes. Do better.
The complaint desk is closed. Look in the mirror and figure it out.
Young adults realize how screwed over they are by the prior generations (boomers, primarily). Naturally, they aren't too interested in joining a system designed to rip them off their entire life. So, less competition for you there.
If you didn't take the gene therapy treatment, then you will really be ok and in fact will be making substantially more than otherwise over the next decade, or longer. Less and less competition by the day, sadly.
