Thread regarding 3M layoffs

Salaries

Does 3M actually pay people in different countries drastically differently? If you are a sr manager in emea or lat am, do you make less than a sr manager in the us? Then if you get sent to the us do you get a huge raise? So if youre a 14 in mexico and then get sent to st paul and promoted to a 15, are you getting a 17 % raise? How does this work?

Employees outside the US also have more responsibility at lower levels. In St Paul employees have higher JGs. Marketers in the US are typically 13-14s outside the US 10-12s

I was a leader for an employee from Germany who transferred to the states on a short term assignment that is now full time. The person was near the top of the pay range in Germany because of high performance and being a HIPO.

While in the states, the employee's salary was transferred over and given a 5 percent bump. By the time I became the leader, that employee was still 10 percent below similar American colleagues. Needless to say, the employee ended up getting two promotions on 4 years because that was the only way to pay enough to keep them from leaving. This person works for another leader but is truly an excellent performer. The key for international transfers is get the promotions stateside and then transfer back to another country like the Thailand person probably did. In that other country, your salary makes you nearly upper class pay range and you don't have to pay minnesota income taxes.

As per recent studies in 2022, the Indian average salary is approximately ₹3,87,500 per year which is around ₹32,840 per month. That is the equivalent of USD 422.03 per month ($5,064.36 annually) as per the exchange rates of May 2022.

$5,064.36 annually = $2.43 per hours

For sure they do.

You are getting paid based on your job grade and the local economy. So for example for JG12, the reference point in the US is about 140k Dollars while in Germany the same JG is about 110k Euros.

When you are officially relocating from one country to the other, your JG might stay the same, but your salary adjusts to the local costs of living.

Having GSCs in countries like Poland, Philippines and Costa Rica is for a reason.

For the most part, salaries are regional, even country specific. When someone is transferred from, say, LAA to NA, they do get a bump in pay, if for no other reason to make sure they are not supervising people who make more than they do. This can be done as an adder that is not permanent.

Certain people on the international fast track get real raises and promotions. I remember a guy who went to be a site leader on Thailand was making 10x what his team was making because he was an American who could count on keeping his same salary when he returned home.

production operatives in the United Kingdom are even paid differently for same job, the English and Welsh plants are on nearly £13 pr hour and the Northern Ireland plant is on £11 per hour. Think our cousins across the Irish seas are short changed,, must be to keep them out of the guinness pubs
