Thread regarding Western Digital Corp. layoffs

Legal information for us older workers that were exited from the company yesterday

This rif was definitely age discrimination given most people impacted were 50+. I did some research on the class action lawsuit for discrimination a few years back (which cost the company $7.75 million dollars). For those of us who fall in this bucket, here is the legal team that won the lawsuit: Sanford Heisler Sharp, Medina Orthwein and Desai Law Firm. If you feel that you were impacted because of age, I encourage you to contact them as I know I will. ELT - when are you going to cut some of the young NCG's or the former Cisco employees when the company is faced with tough times. There needs to be some equality if you want to stay out of court.

Looking at the severance letter which lists all the ages of people laid off, it sure looks like the majority are 40+ ages. But you would think WD was careful to not be enough for a class action suit. Anyone do a count or tally of the 50 pages?

Thank you so much for sharing. I too got layoff notice after being there less than 1 year and I’m over 50+

I am definitely going to talk to one of the three law firms mentioned here. I encourage you to do the same.

Very helpful information as I didn't know where to turn. This is all new to me as it's never happened before. It will be good to talk to someone to find out if I've been discriminated against because of my age. Thanks for posting this.

No doubt WDC legal vetted the process for potential Title VII and Age Discrimination Act exposures. One of the firms mentioned here recently opened a Silicon Valley office and is probably overflowing with calls from Twitter employee; understand your rights and make an informed decision.
