I'm probably on the list

My manager has been reluctant to assign me to any new funded project. I've been in a perpetual state of holding/clean-up/helping co-workers since late August. Granted our business group is in a state of chaos due to a major initiative being cancelled.

I'm interviewing, and I've had 2 offers since Spring, and a lot of contract offers. Just waiting this out I guess. I can think back and realize that I shouldn't count on my manager to have my best interests. There are senior people in my group who regularly dictate what they want to work on, and actually refuse some assignments. Being a "yes sir" employee hasn't gotten me anywhere here. Money is good. I have a high IPF and RSUs. But my time is up I suspect.

If you stay you’ll be fixing the damage they do as most of the “senior” people there are incompetent.

Just waiting this out I guess.

Ask yourself “why.” I haven’t been there in a while but some time ago very few development dollars went to development, which is the proof that the senior people didn’t get things right the first time. If you want to do months of new development that won’t require years of bug fixing to meet the release criteria there are far better options outside Cisco.

Plenty of employees with RSUs and recent promotions have gotten the axe. Layoffs are not performance based at Cisco.

If you have RSU, you are still on your manager good list. However, it’s unclear to me about if first level manager making the layoffs list in his group or not.

IMO you are safer than folks without RSU.

Right there with you. Even in the latest reorg I’m getting pushback to my basic questions “what is the process for X under this leader?” It’s some version of, we should know in a few weeks.
