Thread regarding GlobalFoundries layoffs

Good ones already left GF

I know this post will not be liked by my peers in GF but fact is that all good talent has already left GF. Not many good ones left and if there are few left , they are planning. I do not see reason to complain as second tier foundry with third grade leadership is bound to be in this state.

Your next hiring manager will be wondering what took you so long to leave this terrible place

@1csh So there's something about the semiconductor industry that is unappealing to different generations, who are only products of their upbringings and environment

Maybe you don't realize how much of a self-own your comment is 🙃

Not everyone can hack it in the Semiconductor. I’ve seen countless 20-30yr olds leave after only a few years. Different generation now. Entitlement, and praise seeking seems to be the new norm..

Frankly employees who did not get a chance other companies other than GF, they do not know how stressful , barbaric and terrible atmosphere they are in and how their career is decimated by incompetent, failed, corrupt and opportunistic leaders. I was there in GF for two years only and left as soon as I saw opportunity. 20+% attrition is terrible place to be in. Not sure if it is worth being there.

May be it is fine for those incompetent and failed guys who are able to secure manager and director role due to their a-s licking, racist and political connection but for bright talents GF is definitely not the place.

Trust me, outside GF is way way better if you are talented, hardworking and want to grow in holistic environment. GF will always find mediocres to keep itself going if possible but in absence of good leadership it will struggle and keep taking steps like layoff, volunteer retirement for 55 and above etc.

I resigned & left my job @ GF early this year after just one miserable year of employment there . This was the shortest I have been at a job in my 20 year career in semiconductor industry. GF is the worst company I'd ever worked for. in every aspect. Biggest issue the companies senior leadership team who are letting everyone, investors and employees badly down. A group of rejects & parasites from the rest of semiconductor industry . But as far as the rest of employees concerned, grade 9 and below, I had the pleasure of working with some very talented and hard working professionals at GF. A lot of these folks don't leave for variety of reasons mostly family reasons. Glad to say I just today got a job offer for an ex GF colleague to join my team in my new company where his work and talents will be appreciated whilst working in a professional and respectful working environment, managed by real professional managers with appropriate technical and business skills and knowledge.
