I am starting to think Transformco will stay in business. He has things down to a minimum and the closures have slowed way down.

Huh? 120-ish Hometown Stores are about to liquidate, and that was the largest remaining set of locations for this company.
This is a transformation to a right sized digital retailer who has an iconic brand, tens of millions of members, and an award winning omnichannel shopping experience. Today, millions of people turn to Sears first when they want apparel, appliances and hard goods. They just do it through the web site.
Customers led the way to digital, and Sears is leading the way to digital-first retail.
Correct. TransformCo will continue doing business, but from the aspect of a real estate company leasing their properties to prospective tenants: not as a retail business itself.
Correct. There will be no closing. There will just be a lack of opening.
The beatings will continue until there's nobody left to beat up
The beatings will continue until morale improves.
We, the management are taking strict measures to reduce expenses and increase foot traffic in our stores. We also recently hired store clerks that were hand-picked to give the best service to our member base and our service department is the best in the hemisphere.
The troll jests.
…”things down to a minimum”…
includes: minimum inventory of minimum quality merchandise, minimum staffing, minimum store cleaning and maintenance, minimum advertising, minimum wages and benefits for employees.
The Secret to Sears’ Success !!
A solid ‘go forward’ plan. Lol
I live in one of our smaller states, Massachusetts. There used to be at least 18 Sears stores here. Now there are 13 in the entire USA. That's a sharp and steep fall.
Sears will still be around, nominally, in some small format. Probably 1.
Sears website, 2. At least some Sears Hometowns, and 3. Guam/USVI Kmarts will last forever.
There are 26 combined stores (Sears, Kmart) still operating, discounting Hometown. That's nothing to sneeze at. Eddie has a way of weathering storms.
Even if not one more store closes, its already a disaster. 99% of stores that were open 15 years ago are closed. 99% of employees who made a living working for Sears or Kmart are gone.
This is the annual mercy period before the post holidays massacre
You're kidding right?
Percentage wise, closing as fast as ever, maybe faster.
