We had so much theft from self check outs, changed upc's, not scanning etc... Then to prevent this we switched to no cash cc or dc only. This helped a lot. Much less theft now because the customer can be identified through cc / dc data. Its much better but still has room to improve

Self check outs do not call in, or come in late, or talk back.
I like self checkout. I dislike that most of them are credit card only. I like bagging my items and putting items together that should be together. I’m not bagging dish soap with food. A lot of cashiers in my experience just bag everything in one bag and mix chemicals with food, they just don’t care.
Customers want it. It is everywhere and has been growing in the last 5 years. One time cost up front for the company and no turn over. Grocery could be the only cashier position left in a few years.
I like self checkout, but I don’t like dealing with people. I am not a socializer. So my opinion is jaded. I would recommend getting the checkout person to check your receipt and buggy before leaving. My store prosecutes people if they miss ringing up items, they accuses everyone of shoplifting. If everyone would make the cashier at self checkouts check their receipts they would have to hire more cashiers just to check receipts or self checkouts would back up and people wouldn’t use them. Sams check everyone, Walmart should too
Open all registers faster checkouts happier customers. It looks like when kmart started going down hill
As long as the customers buy it , its sold. Long lines with cashiers , longer lines with self checkouts. Only credit cards here , cash here.
