Thread regarding Ford layoffs

LL5 indicating layoffs comming

Ford is all in on EV's so they need to get rid of a massive amount of employees in ICE associated groups. Don't spend money on what you don't need.

Does anyone even consider the impact of Americans losing their jobs and NOT being able to afford these not-so-cheap vehicles (EV or ICE!)?!!!!

Keep outsourcing! You are slowly crippling the US for future generations!

Yes, we’re on the heels of the annual agency lay off that happens at during the time between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Be ready for PS to not have contracts renewed also.

PTME personnel is on the chopping table. USA Transmission plants will downsize a lot in the coming months. UAW personnel will have to relocate to Tennessee or Kentucky to still be employed.

I think you are right.

I've been keeping an eye on the job sites at Ford, GM, and Stellantis and they have all been flooding their sites with new job openings in Mexico and overseas. This is definitely the trend right now - and I think it will continue for some time...

They are going to continue to layoff high cost employees in US and replace them with lower cost employees in Mexico or India.

Of course more layoffs are coming - whoever is left that's pension eligible are on the list, followed by ' underperformers ' and whoever Farley wants out. Ford Next more than likely will be a target as well as PD at Blue. Q1 '23 more than likely, depends how Lawler spins accounting.

None of this should be a surprise to anyone. The trick we need to do is balance the investment for maintaining cashflow (maximizing cash flow), and then using that cash flow to invest into growth areas.

For better or worse EV is the growth area. Investing in next-gen ICE engines, or advanced metals for piston design that won't make an engine platform for 10 years is a waste of money. It doesn't help the customer and it won't help in freeing up cashflow for EV investment.

yeah, most likely this time contract workers and some full time's in India can be the targets.

@OP - did you get an idea of timing and/or departures? That is pretty vague. We all know more is to come.

I will get an EV 5 years from now. My hybrid RAV4 SUV vehicle is perfect with 40 mpg.
