Thread regarding VMware layoffs

it's really simple....

why are you making things so complicated? based upon the recent changes at BroadCon, the vision is clear. if your BU doesn't have a se--n sticky product with high margins you'll be sold off or gone. hock wants to manage a portfolio of high margin businesses. simple as that.

so...assess you BU and take action... the end.

So I can’t moan and wait to and see how things work out?

Two simple options.

  1. You want to wait and see how things work out - work as you still get paid for your job
  2. You don't have motivation left in your body - stop whining and leave

One thing will not help you - moan on some random anonymous messageboard.

The creators of Kubernetes made Tanzu, a product so good that the only option for them was to leave VMware rather than watch it succeed.

Good riddance

A product that removes all the benefits of a SaaS experience on public clouds, adds complexity, and no one knows how it works.

Sounds like a winner to me!

"Apparently, Hock likes it though"

Tanzu? He's hyping it up so he can sell it off. If Octane starts talking up your BU, that's how he announces he's looking for a buyer. See?

Idk, I work in Tanzu and my colleagues suck, the products suck, and it's overall toxic AF...

Apparently, Hock likes it though, or at least his blog editor does...

Useless product stack in my opinion.

The OP is right but not exactly how it works. Broadcom doesnt always sell and does keep lower margin products but you have to increase margin within X time. Company wide threshold is 65%. S/w is publicly known to run at 90%

Where do you find margin per BU? Our execs have been pretty clear they don’t share those numbers.

If you don't have anything relevant to share, why don't you shut **?
