Judging by what I hear from those who were impacted, it seems that the age was one of the main criteria for these RIFs. If this is true, shame on this company!

It's definitely age discrimination. Myself and 3 other older female co-workers were let go because we were told that our jobs were being downgraded, yet we were not allowed to take a pay cut and stay in our jobs. Instead, they kept a young male at the same level that came in from Cisco a couple of months ago and are backfilling us with young Cisco people. They also hired someone at one level lower in the same role (but a different team) and we were not allowed to interview. This is coming from an org that should know better, but are able to get away with this behavior because DG brought the leader in from Cisco.
Word to the wise, get out when you can as your time will come unless you came from Cisco.
Some of them let go under the voluntary retirement and other laid off. It's age discrimination....
